From Scott White:
I make my home in the small town of Poetry, TX, and split my time between there and Nashville as a staff songwriter for a publishing company. In between writing trips, I play house concerts and listening rooms all over the country, touring 120-150 dates a year. My shows are half story-telling because I have a lot of stories to tell :-) I don't tell you what the song is about because if I wrote the song right - the song will take care of that. But I DO tell you the story of how the song was born. The real life that was happening when the first lines or notes came out. And if I do it right - I WILL make you laugh and I WILL probably make you cry, hopefully in equal amounts! I'll also mix in some songs I've written for folks like Cody Johnson, Bryan Martin and others - and tell you how they got heard and recorded. You'll hear some insights and inside info on how the "machine" in Nashville works - the good and the bad - as well as what this "life" of being a full-time songwriter looks like. You won't know me much at all when I walk in, but you'll know me pretty well by the time I leave.
Now for a quick summary of the “usual” bio stuff… My newest album, "Even Better On the Bad Days," debuted at #1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart the day it came out earlier this year, and it was produced by Grammy nominated Dave Brainard, who was nominated for his work on Brandy Clark's landmark album "12 Stories." My first album, "Call It Even," climbed to #3 back in 2021. I've played legendary venues like The Bluebird Cafe, Eddie's Attic, Saxon Pub, Main Street Crossing, Dosey Doe The Big Barn, Poor David's Pub, and I've been a regular performer at the Key West Songwriter Festival for the last 6 years and Nashville Nights festival in Denmark for 3 of the last 4 years. And oh yes - I was a Kerrville New Folk Finalist back in 2019.

Songwriter Showdown
MC'd and backed by Drew Lance, three brave songwriters will compete and collaborate to create an exciting night of musical magic and mayhem.
The showdown will have themed 4 rounds where the songwriters each choose one of their original songs that best fits the theme. At the beginning of the show, each songwriter is given a set of style cards that they use throughout the night. For each of their songs, they use up one of their cards. After each round, the audience chooses which song best fits the theme.
Style cards include:
All alone: The musician performs their song solo and unaccompanied
Unplugged: The musician leaves the stage and takes a seat in the middle of the room. Then, they perform their song without a microphone accompanied by Drew with a hand drum.
A capela: The songwriter sings their song but doesn't get to play their instrument. They can ask the other musicians to help, though.
A little help from my friends: The musician asks someone in the room to accompany them. They can bring a friend with them or ask one of the other musicians to join in.
and more. . . .
Interspersed throughout the show, Drew will direct group performances of well known favorites. At the end of the evening, one of the musicians is voted the best collaborator and get's the fabulous collaborator prize!

Javier Mendoza's (aka, Hobo Kane) website: https://www.hobocane.com/
From Javier:
I am Hobo Cane, but you can call me Javier. I am a former Warner-Chappell writer & have been performing and touring across the country for over 20 years. Many people have told me that my greatest gift is my live performance. My mission is to connect with others through song, regardless of language, because music is universal.
I was born in the States, but I grew up in Spain & Germany, raised by my Mexican American father & Spanish mother. This diverse background has greatly influenced my songwriting, allowing me to create songs with various palettes & colors in both English & Spanish.
My musical influences primarily come from albums rather than individual artists. Some of my favorites include "Abbey Road," "OK Computer," "Grace," "Purple Rain," & "Led Zeppelin III." However, I have also been inspired over the years by artists such as The Beatles, Radiohead, Prince, Jeff Buckley & Joaquín Sabina to name a few.
I enjoy performing solo & in duo concerts because it lets me truly tell the story of each song & immerse myself in my entire catalog. While I mostly perform original songs, I also love to pay tribute to my favorite artists by covering their songs.
I currently live in Nashville, where I continue to record, write, and perform live.
From his website:
"Javier Mendoza started his musical career joining Warner-Chappell as a staff writer in Miami, FL. There he spent his time writing tunes for mega pop sensations such as Enrique Iglesias, Juan David, Ricky Martin, Rosario and more. The ever-winding path of life took him to Saint Louis: City of Miles Davis, Tina Turner and Chuck Berry, where he saw musical success with his new following. In 2014 Mendoza moved to Music City, Nashville, TN where he is embarking on a project as Hobo Cane."
Review from a house concert:
"Beyond his immense talent as a singer-songwriter, Javier is a truly genuine & engaging performer. He makes every guest feel part of the experience, whether they’ve seen him many times or are hearing him for the first time. His charisma & ability to connect with people through music are what make his house concerts so special..." Jay Brandt - KY

Ashtyn Barbaree's website: https://www.ashtynbarbaree.com/
Ashtyn Barbaree is an internationally touring Americana singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Fayetteville, Arkansas. She’s known for her ethereal vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and emotionally immersive performances. Her music blends Americana with touches of alt-folk, pop, rock, and country—rooted in the Ozarks, yet resonating far beyond.
Her latest album, Sent Through The Ceiling (October 2024), reached #44 on the Alt Country Specialty Charts (November 2024). The record explores themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the bittersweet nature of change, inspired by personal experiences and her Arkansas surroundings. The arrangements reflect an expansive Americana vision with melodic depth and lyrical intimacy.
Barbaree’s musical journey is defined by passion and persistence. While earning her geology degree at the University of Arkansas, she performed over 300 shows a year between 2013 and 2017. Her self-titled debut EP, recorded at The Butcher Shoppe in Nashville with David “Fergie” Ferguson and musicians like Dave Roe and Kenny Vaughan, led to her first European tour in 2018.
In 2020, she recorded her first full-length album, Better Luck Next Time, at The Studio Nashville with engineer Brook Sutton and players such as Chris Scruggs and Tommy Hannum. The release opened doors to extensive European tours and state recognition as Arkansas Music Ambassador by Arkansas Tourism. She has also earned multiple nominations from the Arkansas Country Music Awards, including Americana Artist of the Year (2025, 2023) and Acoustic Act of the Year (2024).
Reviews:
“There’s a fairy tale quality to Ashtyn’s tone that has lots of friendliness & positivity. Ashtyn may come close to being ethereal & whispery like Sarah MacLachlan... her voice captivates.”

Barak's website: https://barakhill.com/
Barak Hill is an Americana singer-songwriter with roots in folk, soul, and rock and roll. Barak's talents were recognized when he was chosen from among thousands of entrants as the winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s Santa Cruz Guitar Song Contest. He was also voted one of Southwest Missouri's top three solo musicians by 417 Magazine readers.
Barak’s songs and sound run in the same vein as artists like Ray LaMontagne, Steve Earle, and Amos Lee. Lyric-driven, heartbroken Americana hanging on to a fistful of hope that things might just get better, delivered with a soulful voice and strong guitar work.
Barak has shared stages with national acts like Jay Farrar (Son Volt) and Amanda Shires (The Highwomen), as well as regional legends like Big Smith and The Ben Miller Band. Playing around 150 shows yearly has made him a confident, dynamic performer whose original songs, along with a handful of cherished covers, connect with audiences on a deep level.

Jeremy Facknitz has already played at the JohnnyLingo concert series so this will be his 2nd show. His show was one of my personal favorites.
His style was unique and approachable. He took on big topics by singing songs with small subjects. Like, a song about a tiny town that survived the flooding Mississippi that was also about hope. Or, a song about a "cup of noodles" that was also about making things work when you don't have much. Or, a song about getting a haircut that was also about progressing to a new stage of life.
His performance was remarkable. He filled the room with music (without blasting off the roof) and kept everyone enthralled.
Jeremy Facknitz website: https://jeremyfacknitz.com
From his website:
Jeremy Facknitz’s new album is titled Smilin’ At The Future, a caption from his high school graduation photo in the hometown newspaper. If the songs smile at the future, it’s not idealism but a need to transcend the struggle of the present and the wounds of the past. This is the sixth record by the two-time Kerrville Grassy Hill New Folk Songwriting Competition finalist, and it’s his strongest songwriting and most imaginative music yet. Facknitz describes his music as “indie rock with a made-for-the-theatre twist. I’m a singer-songwriter, but I’m not 3 chords and the truth - I’m 8 to 15 chords and poetic cynicism. Less like John Prine and Townes Van Zandt - more like Elvis Costello and Lin Manuel Miranda.”

By creating an email list of people that are interested, I hope to inform people about upcoming events that they would enjoy.
My intention is to find 40-70 people that are excited to attend for each show. That is the number of people that I think utilizes the space well, ensures that the artists can make some money, and creates an intimate feel for the show. By joining the email list, you can hear about the shows as I schedule them and be reminded to reserve your spot. I will monitor the list of people that have indicated their intention to attend. If the number of people that have RSVP'd reaches the limit, I'll send out a notification that the event is full and close the reservation form.
